This song was quite a hit when it hit the airwaves. It was a single in 1989 off the record "Heart Shaped World", but didn't become famous until the film "Wild At Heart" came out in 1990 where it was featured. It became #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1991, and also his first hit in his career.
Many big names in music have covered this song, including HIM, Parr, Three Days Grace, Il Divo, and even Corey Taylor from Stone Sour/Slipknot, and many others.
I'd like to examine his track that I have been fond of since I was just a kid, and maybe turn other people onto his music at the same time.
Wicked Game has one of the saddest, most heartbreaking atmospheres I've ever heard in a song before. Its slow tempo catches and warms the heart. The beautiful riff that plays over and over along with a melancholy vocal piece just brings a tear to the eye. (Word of advice. If you recently lost a boyfriend or girlfriend, this song just might literally make you cry.) I also really like the simple and soft drumming in the back complimenting the slow-paced and moving bass riffs. Also, so hearing this song by yourself, you can really hear the pain and the heartache in his voice. Makes you wonder if he wrote this song about a certain someone. The chorus to this song is the most memorable of all. "No I don't want to fall in love... with you".
All in all, an amazing tune. Like I said, he still makes music, so check it out! I hope to see this song performed live someday; I just might cry.
