Here we are taking a look at the music video from this metalcore five piece band called "A Breach Of Silence". If you're not into this type of music, this video might not be for you, but, I've got to say, it's worth a watch.
This video for the song "Night Rider" from their record "Dead Or Alive" can be a little deceptive in the beginning. It starts with this very western feel of a guitar part. It fits perfectly with the theme of the video, having it take place in the Old West. A Spaghetti Western type of video. After watching it for the first time, you don't know what to expect. A country song? A Bon Jovi "Wanted Dead Or Alive"-ish song? None of the above. The song kicks in and it might just throw you off! You wouldn't expect a heavy song like that unless you already knew the band. It's very raw and very heavy. Heavily coarse vocals that just might make your own throat sore! Fast and brutal music that is quite an assault on the senses with a brief hint of clean and loudly projected vocals. The song also exposes great instrumentations throughout and uncover some interesting harmonies. But enough about the song. Let's examine this video a little more.
As I stated, it takes place in the Old West. In the beginning, a court seems to be sentencing an outlaw known as Night Rider for his possibly heinous crimes, and is locked up. Due to this, the people of the small town seem to be rejoicing. During this rejoicing however, some bandits, as they seem to be, show up and try to take over the town. Because of the sudden violent anarchy, the law turns to the outlaw, knowing he's the only one who can take on these bandits, and restore the peace. Upon this outlaws release, the video changes themes from an Old-West-movie type to an Old West first-person-shooter game type. Neat transition! I had never seen this in a music video before. The video even includes a health meter on the bottom along with a little map showing the location of the outlaw and the bandits. As this video progresses, clips of the band are shown together walking through the town with the lead singer front and center screaming his lungs out to the song. Also while the video progresses, the video game point of view is even more believable as a video game when this outlaw walks into store and obtains "health" and among for his weapon. One by one, the bandits are taken out by this outlaw. In the very end of this massacre, it's only down to the outlaw and one last bandit. In a hail of gunfire, they seem to kill each other, but this story ends differently for the Night Rider. Want to know? Watch this video and find out and experience this clever video with its intense music.
Sounds like the beginning stages of a film, doesn't it?? I enjoyed this video, being a fan of Old West and Spaghetti Western films first, but I also enjoyed the first-person-shooter point of view of it all. It's basically like watching someone play video game such as Halo, Call Of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Clever video!
I'd like to thank Eclipse Records for introducing us to this video. Be sure to check it out and show support for A Breach of Silence and Eclipse Records online.
