The inspiration behind Winter Show Mercy (Thank You) comes from a first hand account between a homeless man named Bjorn and lead singer Nick Red of Blowsight over a cup of coffee in the Winter time. Through this conversation Red learned about the difficulties those who are unfortunate encounter on a daily basis. Not knowing where or when their next meal would come from, something as simple as a dime would make a difference.
This track exposes how many of us are sometimes quick to shun away a helping hand at the misconception that a monetary donation would be used for something other than a necessity. Feeling compelled to use their talents in music, Red along with the members of Blowsight who are Seb, Mao and Fabz recorded this passionate track that not only is an anthem of hope, but an encouragement to lend a helping hand.
The song itself begins with a harmony among the members of Blowsight and goes into a power rock ballad with strong lyrics of a homeless girl with two coins in her possession who is in dire need of a helping hand. The vocals of Nick Red are incredible in that they express a wide range throughout this one song. One of the lines that moves me is, "The people stuck inside their wealth". The line itself is powerful enough to get you moving, but the aggressiveness in Red's voice is true passion ! It further mentions how it is true, it is not always necessary to give help through monetary donation, rather a simple acknowledgement goes a long way too.
This is such an amazing track on so many levels. First and foremost, because a band like Blowsight who already have an album that was just released in April of 2013 and are currently working on a DVD for 2014, took the time to create this anthem. What is more, they go above and beyond to sell this track and donate 100% of the proceeds to charity !
I've had the pleasure of checking out some of Blowsight's music and it is great music that's truly inspiring ! Be sure to take the time to purchase your digital copy of Winter Show Mercy (Thank You) and stay tuned to Eclipse Records for their upcoming DVD release.
For Eclipse Records we are The Skeptics Review.
